Welcome to Wylam First School

“Teaching is outstanding because it is consistently good and often exemplary and this is giving pupils the confidence to learn.” Ofsted Inspection report, November 2008.

The staff, pupils, parents and governors were all delighted to receive the Outstanding Schools Award in the  Ofsted inspection.  We believe it is down to the hard work and commitment of staff, pupils, parents and governors and the broader Wylam community who support the school enabling the staff to broaden and enrich the school’s curriculum.  Additionally, we are proud to be part of the network of Creative Partnership Schools which has supported us in our journey of bringing an even greater amount of purposeful learning and creativity into our schools, helping us to achieve our goals.  Thank you and we sincerely hope everyone will continue to support us!   At Wylam we are aiming to promote better learners through developing a learning matrix for our pupils.  Due to the delay in the implementation of the new primary curriculum we have found ourselves in a position where it was appropriate that we, as a school, address not only how our curriculum is structured but also how our children learn.  We aim to continue to be innovative and creative by addressing the following aims:

  • To deliver a curriculum that gives opportunities for thematic, cross-curricular learning which is progressive across the Key Stages.
  • To develop a matrix of skills which we believe to be most lacking in our pupils and which would improve learning.

We hope you enjoy visiting our website and we are planning to make full use of it.   Any thoughts or suggestions you have on how we can improve the site would be welcomed.  Contact us.
