School Meals
School meals are cooked on the premises.  A two course meal is provided daily at £2.00 per day (2013).  Menus are designed to meet the nutritional requirements of young children and vegetarian meals can be requested.  Provision is made in the dining room for children who bring a packed lunch.  Good social habits are encouraged during school meals.

 

Two weeks notice is requested for children to change their lunch arrangements. Dinner money is collected weekly in advance on Monday mornings or the first day back after a holiday.  Please ensure that any monies brought to school are in a purse or envelope clearly marked with the child’s full name.

 

Milk
Milk can be ordered on a termly basis and costs £13.00 per term.  Children below 5 years of age for the whole term, and free school meals children are entitled to free school milk.

 

Fruit in School Scheme
The fruit in school scheme provides free fruit on a daily basis for all children Nursery to Year 2.  If children in years 3 & 4 would like fruit the school will provide this for you at a cost calculated at 10p a day per term.  This amounts to a total of £6.80 for the full term.  Requests for orders are normally sent home at the end of each term.  You can pay by cash or cheque made payable to Northumberland County Council and return this with your order form.  Fruit can not be ordered unless the form and payment has been received.

School Choir

Wylam First School choir is open to all children in Years 2, 3 and 4. We meet every Friday lunchtime (12.30 - 1:00) in the nursery classroom. We sing a wide variety of songs and the emphasis is always on having fun. We have performed at a wide variety of venues throughout the North East. Read more about it here.
