Wylam Nature Reserve
In May 2012, Reception and Nursery visited the Wylam Nature Reserve as part of our Minibeasts topic. We all had a wonderful day bughunting. We found lots of minibeasts and some that we had never seen before.
We also thought the Nature Reserve was a fantastic place to visit and it’s all free!
Pupils Representing Wylam First School meet the Duchess of Northumberland
A Year 4 and Year 3 pupil accompanied Mr Daly to Hexham Abbey to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. The service was the idea of the Duchess of Northumberland who attended the service. All local schools made a banner and we paraded them around Hexham before the service. The celebration was followed by a picnic on the lawn. We were also very lucky to meet the Duchess of Northumberland – it was a wonderful day.

Year 1 Trip to Kirkley Hall Zoological Gardens

The whole experience deepened our understanding of living things and how they grow, feed, reproduce, move and breathe. It was a fantastic day out.
Year 2 Trip to Alnwick Castle
February 2012
The pictures show the children making soap out of natural ingredients and clay tiles in the Alnwick courtyard. Outside of the Dragon’s Quest, the children get into role.
Year 4 (2011) Residential Trip
In Year 4 the children go on a residential visit designed to deliver the KS2 P.E activities, in the Outdoor and Adventurous section that forms part of the National Curriculum. In 2012 Year 4 will visit the same venue we chose last year at the YMCA, Newby Bridge, Ulverston, Cumbria, as it provides an extensive range of age appropriate activities.
The visit includes planned activities by the YMCA by qualified and experienced instructors, a two night stay at the hostel inclusive of full board and personal injury insurance and transport. The types of activities on offer are:
