Our School
Our school is situated to the east of the village of Wylam in a very pleasant setting overlooking the Tyne Valley. There has been a school at Wylam for well over a hundred years, but the present building was opened in May 1974. It is a purpose built First School comprising five classrooms, a hall, kitchen, administrative area and a 26 place nursery. The school has an excellent playing field, which is used extensively throughout the year.

Mission Statement
We value the unique qualities of all individuals, promoting honesty and tolerance.
We provide a safe, caring, and stimulating environment to maximize the achievement of all children and foster a love of learning. Through careful planning of differentiated activities we build on skills, ensure equal opportunities and aim for high standards.
We actively promote the development of children’s thinking skills by encouraging questioning and reasoning across the curriculum. We believe these skills help to prepare children for life in the 21st Century.
Creative Partnerships
Wylam First School is proud of our work with Creative Partnerships Northumberland. Creative Partnerships is an Arts Council programme which is a catalyst for 'blue sky' thinking in education. The aim is to foster long term partnerships which stimulate bold new ways of working. Striving to bring teachers, families and creatives together equipped with the resources to enthral and inspire young people making schools fun and exciting places to be. Where differences are valued and celebrated and learning is seen as a way of widenin horizons and visualising ambitious futures.
We believe that parents are our partners in school, and we greatly value your help and support in making your child’s stay with us as happy and beneficial as possible. We hope that we will all enjoy learning together.
We look forward to meeting you.
