We hope you all had a lovely half term break and that your children are well rested and raring to go!
Looking back over last half term …
Wylam Winter Tales
The song writing workshops held in school on 23 January produced some impressive results! The children wrote and practiced their own Wylam Winter Tales songs, culminating in a wonderful ‘Celebrate Winter Tales Concert’ on 27 January. Many thanks to all who supported this event.
Mrs Wearmouth’s Story Telling
Mrs Wearmouth, storyteller extraordinaire, very kindly came into school on 6 and 7 February to entertain the children with her wonderful tales. The children had a fantastic day – thank you!

On a separate note, if your children are late for school could you please bring them to the main entrance and sign them in. Please do not knock on classroom windows and ask children inside to unlock the classroom door. This has happened on a few occasions and is a cause for concern regarding safeguarding. Thank you for your support with this matter.
World Book Day – Thursday 2nd March
Thursday 2nd March is World Book Day. To celebrate, all children be given a free World Book Day token to put towards a book or to buy one of the specially published World Book Day books.
As part of our World Book Day celebrations this year we are inviting all children to bring to school their favourite book to read. We will be having lots of time in the classroom to read, share and discuss our favourite books so if your children have a favourite, then please help them to bring it in. Don’t forget to make sure their name is clearly marked inside.
On World Book Day also look out for:
Grown-ups: we need you!

Wylam First School’s Great Big Books Sale!
Good quality second hand children’s books will be on sale in the school playground (or Year 1 classroom if it is raining) at the end of the day on Friday 3rd March. Please send donations to the school office by Wednesday 1st March at the latest. We are looking for good quality children’s books only, used but in good condition.
